The E8 high-speed angular contact ball bearing (dimensions: 8 mm inner diameter × 24 mm outer diameter × 7 mm width) is a specialized miniature bearing designed for precision applications demanding high rotational speeds and compact design. Often referred to as a magneto bearing, it features a unique geometry: the outer ring has a single shoulder and a counterbored groove that merges smoothly with the raceway, allowing the outer ring to be separated from the inner ring and cage assembly. This design significantly simplifies mounting, disassembly, and maintenance—especially in tight spaces.


Constructed from high-purity chrome steel (GCr15), the E8 bearing offers excellent hardness, wear resistance, and dimensional stability. Its raceways are finished to a mirror-like surface roughness of Ra 0.0, minimizing torque variation and heat generation during high-speed operation. With a shallow inner groove compared to standard deep groove bearings, it provides optimal contact angles for axial and radial load combinations typical in dynamic rotary systems.


Commonly used in duplex pairs, E8 bearings can be preloaded or set with controlled end play to enhance rigidity and reduce vibration—critical for sensitive instruments like gyroscopes, small alternators, starter motors, and precision ball-screw end supports in CNC milling tables.
